What famous musician was a ticket agent for the Santa Fe Railroad?
What famous musician was discovered playing his guitar as he worked as a ticket agent for the Santa Fe Railroad? I think he was working in a depot in New Mexico.
I remember seeing a clip on the history channel about this person sitting in the depot playing his guitar and singing. A passenger on one of the trains was a record producer heard him playing and took him and made him famous. I work for the BNSF and we are trying to figure this out. Thanks for all your answers!!!
I believe you are thinking about Jimmie Rogers – aka the singing break-man (New Orleans & Northeastern RR).
He was a switchman – not a ticket agent – in New Mexico – for the Southern Pacific RR.
Father of country music. Died too soon from TB – learn from his stuff. It’s the stuff of legend.
