Why do cops and military personnel wear a backwards American flag on their uniforms?
I’ve noticed this alot with police and military uniforms. On the left sleeve the American flag will face the right direction, but on the right sleeve it is backwards.
Can anyone explain why they do it this way?
Military Regulations for the display of the Flag state that it should be displayed as if flying freely. Because the US military is always moving forward, it is displayed as if flowing to the rear.
A flag is always flying backwards from one side, it just depends on which way it is flying and where you are standing in relation to it.
