A Great Beach Vacation Near The Nations Capital
Maryland is basically two states in one, divided by Chesapeake Bay and Maryland beaches are a world away from the busy urban regions of Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington D.C. A number of Maryland getaway rentals are near beaches that are in Maryland proper in addition to well-liked beaches in neighboring states. These include a large range of theme parks, arcades and other amusements like miniature golf, go-kart rides and a three-mile-long boardwalk lined with appealing specialty shops and art galleries. After the youngsters are in bed, Mom and Dad can enjoy community theaters and nightspots.
Returning to nature, at the southern tip of the state on the western edge of Chesapeake Bay is Lookout State Park. Besides the usual beach activities, this is a place of historical interests too; the Union maintained a military prison camp intended for captured Confederates in the American Civil War. Today, a historical museum is open to the public, as well as a nature center where the family should learn about the local ecosystem with its fauna and flora.
Close by the nation’s capitol is Sandy Point. This really is a pretty good area to stay and enjoy local beach activities while close to to Washington D.C. should the family want to embark into the Beltway for seeing the sights.
