Civil War Tours

civil war tours
10 years more of the same?

According to General Betrayus, we are going to be stuck policing someone else’s civil war for another 8-10 years.

(All because we screwed up.)

So 2 questions:

How many of you arm-chair war supporters are going to sign up to fight in the very war you claim to support? Come on now: No beating around the bush on this one.

Somebody in the war party has to put his neck on the line and sign up. It’s the only way we can get the schmuck out of Dodge.

How many of you soldiers will be able to withstand 10 years of neverending tours of duty and shortened family leaves? Or no leaves at all–as the case may be?

It’s just sad that the government doesn’t care about our military. Because if they did, they would’ve done more to make sure that our forces had the best care available. But they don’t. Soldiers are getting screwed abroad and at home.

And a better question:

If the insurgency doesn’t die off in that time frame? What then?

As occupiers we are losing this war of attrition. We cannot stay in Iraq indefinitely, as you so rightly point out our volunteer military makes it impossible. Unless we initiate the draft again this fiasco will be over within the next year and a half. Don’t expect anything different as long as President Bush is in office, his whole legacy is tied to Iraq.
