Can somebody help my strategy out?
So, for Social studies, we are doing a Civil War simulation. My nation is the Confederacy, and after the first day, we are in a terrible state. We have half the manufacturing and production of the Union, we have less soldiers, and all the nerds are on their side.
So, here is the best strategy I can come up with.
1) Send all 200,000 Confederate army to go fight the 400,000 union sent down to invade us. Make sure our troops are in defensive positions, such as hills or cities. Don’t attack, simply defend a line, and support weaker portions.
2) The Union fleet is being sent to blockade us, in 10 groups of 5 ships. I will 50 ships altogether to pick each little fleet off.
3) When the Union armies are depleted, start moving in an attack. Blockade their cities. Make our armies attack. They don’t have any armies defending their cities.
I know something is wrong. The Union is smart. Could you pick out any flaws?
Thanks.
You don’t have a fleet of 50 ships – at least, not if your simulation is accurate.Harass the blockade by outfitting privateers that attack Union merchant shipping. This will force the Union Navy off blockade duties to protect them, making life easier for blockade runners.
Make sure you properly defend key points – DON’T lose New Orleans, like the Confederacy did early in the war. It’s a major port and you NEED it for blockade runners and as a disembarkation point for potential foreign aid.It would also make a good base for privateers.
Otherwise, your strategy of attrition is sensible;I doubt if you have an equivalent of Robert E. Lee,or your opponents the equivalents of McClellan,Pope,Hooker,et al,so you can’t rely on the military incompetence of the Union to help you.An interesting alternative strategy might be limited offensives to capture the 4 Border States and incorporate them into the Confederacy.Strategically and geographically this would cause a number of big headaches for the Union side, and look good to European powers, who migt then be encouraged to support you more.
