Why is the rebel flag seen as racist whenever the war was over taxes not black people?
I don’t understand why this is such a common belief. If you are from the south, you know it is about HERITAGE and things of that nature and not about hate. If you are black you could wear it to honor your heritage as well. The Civil War was over taxes, go look it up on the dixie outfitter website.
History is written by the victors. The Northern policy was changed partway through the war to make it about slavery, thus ingraining the idea that the Confederate flag was a symbol of slavery.
I am a descendant of Robert E. Lee btw
