Gatling gun useage on Civil War gunboats?
General Butler bought at least 10 gatling guns for 1000.00 each. He placed 8 on army gunboats and used two at the seige of Petersburg. Admiral Porter had one sent to him while assigned to the Mississippi squadron. Need names and references for the ships.
Thanx for the response but I need to know the gunboats that had the gatling guns installed on them not a boat named General Butler. However since nobody has come forward but yourself I’m awarding you the best answer for your efforts.
