what is the title of an american movie based on the 1960′s where 2 families are concerned?
if i remember it right, the movie is about the american civil rights movement where there is a black family (the father is a preacher) and a white family (a son is a vietnam war soldier and a daughter is a hippie anti war protester) the black preacher was killed by a gunshot and later on buried with a gravestone mark “the truth shall set you free”. the black son was a member of an anti white gang and later on became good after his father died. and i remember him in the movie serving food to homeless children and was advised by another black elder “the food will taste much better if you serve it with a smile” the white family (if i remember it correctly) is having a thanksgiving reunion after the son came home from the war and the sister from the anti war movement. i dont remember if it was in the late 90′s or in the early 2000′s that i saw this movie. pls help enlighten me. thanks in advance.
Love story
