Stereotyped Southern Pride?
Why is it that anyone who raises up a confederate battle flag, and has pride in their southern heritage is labled as a racist, backwood, redneck? (even though my ancestry is Acadian)
And even sometimes suspicious of being in the KKK?(which originally was just a social club for bored Confederate veterans, not the shameful thing it became, using the stars and bars as a crutch, a truly dishonoring thing),Is it the fault of a few people that actually meet the stereotype, or just a bunch of stuck up self rightious Yankees?(Not putting down all northerners, many of you are good people) I am a civil war reenactor myself, experienceing the life of an infantryman on both sides, so i enjoy reading books about the Confederacy and have mementos of my reenactments hanging about my room, such as the flag. Is their a way for we southerners to rise up against the embarrasing stereotype set against us? (And maybe even get through with our feelings about our Southern Pride without getting put down?)
I don’t think we can change outsiders attitudes but remember we will always have each other. Just keep enjoying your interests and hobbies. I do enjoy a reenactment. The cannons kill my ears though! Take care!
