CIVIL WAR HELP?? HISTORY QUESTION?
The challenges of what to do with defeated enemies and, especially how to reunite a country after civil war are typical to cultures that have undergone civil war. Which approach do you think was the more appropriate way to deal with these challenges: the more lenient conciliatory approach of Presidential Reconstruction, or the Radical Reconstruction later sough by Congress? Explain your reasoning.
Neither – - – there was no actual policy all was ad hoc improvisional ‘comedy’ that achieved little beyond chaos and future problems.
The best solution: The Draconian Solution. We kicked your @ss you rebellious traitors now suffer. Total confistication of all plantations. Redistribution of the land to former slaves. An economic slush fund created from the confiscation of whatever wealth was left from the traitors that fund used to educate and to set up former slaves in business as well as generous bounties to all Union soldiers who fought especially those who were injured.. Trial and then hanging every major Confederate political and military leader. Totally cleanse the slate. Instill the fear of God in the former rebels so that never again would they think of going back to their old ways. Which they did under options presented above.
