What were some jobs in the American Civil War?
I have to do a project about soldier’s jobs.
So far, I have the jobs of: drummer boy, bugler, flag bearer, cook, medic, burial detail and then all the actual fighting jobs.
What are some other jobs that soliders had during the war?
Provost Marshal was another job a soldier would have had in the Civil War. In the Army the Provost Marshal would have been the head of the military police. Other sodiers would have acted as his provost guard and police duty was their responsibility. In the Navy the Provost Marshal was responsible for the disposition of prisoners facing court-martial.
