
What are breastworks?
I’m doing a project on the Civil War on The Battle Of Franklin. My teacher told me I had to substitute the word “breastworks” with something else. But I can’t find what it means! Please helpp
A breastwork is a fortification. The term is usually applied to temporary fortifications, often an earthwork thrown up to breast height to provide protection to defenders firing over it from a standing position.
You could use bulwork or parapet.
