it was not just about salvary i believe that came in later
There were quite a few factors in the starting of the civil war. Slavery was a very major one, because it was the thing that divided the North and the South first. Also, taxes on exports and imports were a big divider, since they hurt the Southern economy but helped the Northern economy. And the growing difference in numbers of free and slave states was also a major factor.
