Why were some Civil War battlefields given two names?
During the Civil War there were Confederates or Rebels versus the North, so because of the regional differences between the North and the South, the North named the battles by the closest body of water or natural element, while the Rebels named the battles by the nearest city or industrial element.
The North were from cities, making them fascinated with nature, while the South were from the countryside making them fascinated with “aritficial” objects or advanced inventions that were accessed mainly by the North.
