The condition of English society in the period 1775-17793: Why didn’t England have a revolution?
I finally found my paper with the full question. Please, do not tell me about the industrial revolution, the english civil war, or cromwell. I need to know why they did not have a revolution. plain and simple. I am have a really rough time finding helpful things for this, as every time I google it, ask.com it, or even bing it, it gives me the industrial, the civil war, cromwell, and my personal favorite ‘why didn’t canada revolt?’.
As this is due tomorrow, I am a very, very stressed person. Help would be very, very much appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. In case you’re wondering, this is my facial expression at the moment >:S and my computer should really be afraid for its life. Just thought I’d share.
Well, the English Civil War did have something to do with it. When the monarchy was restored after the Interregnum, it had less power than most continental monarchies did. And experience of doing without a monarchy had not been entirely satisfactory to the English people, most seemed to be quite pleased to get the king back. Probably the memory of these events had something to do with it.
And the French Revolution generally aroused a certain horror of revolution in the English, the bloody excesses of the Terror repelled many English people.
